Now it's really getting started for you. As of today, the conference app is open to all participants and your personal login has been sent to you by email.
You can download the app directly from Google Play or the Apple App Store to your mobile device (keyword: EMTC 2025) and then start putting together your personal conference programme. We would like to encourage all participants, especially our speakers, to complete their profiles right at the start, for example with a photo, short CV or professional focus and specialist interests.
The organising team is very much looking forward to welcoming you to Hamburg in a week's time!

How to book your workshop

The conference offers an extensive workshop programme on all days in rooms W1-W4. You can choose from a total of 33 (!) programmes. The maximum number of participants per workshop is limited to 25.
Registration for all workshops will be possible from Tuesday, 22 July at 7 pm. Booking is only possible via the conference app ‘EMTC 2025’, which you can download to your mobile phone from the App Store or Playstore. If workshops are fully booked, this will be indicated in the app. Registration for the workshops is possible as long as places are available.
We hope that all those interested will be able to attend a workshop of their choice.

from companies that sometimes pretend to be our contractual partners. Attempts are made to establish an interaction with misleading offers. KUKM does not work with any external company in relation to your accomodation or conference registration and distances oneself from such e-mails.

KUKM has taken the highest possible precautions regard to data protection and the handling of personal data of all congress participants. At no time has personal information been distributed, shared, or sold. We are committed to maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.

Always be wary of emails, links and attachments from unknown or suspicious sources. A reputable company should be identifiable by a detailed business email signature and should contact you personally (mention of the full name). Do not pass on any personal information to companies unknown to you and not clearly identifiable as KUKM (emtc2025@kukm.de) or DMTG (support.emtc2025@musiktherapie.de; emtc2025@musiktherapie.de). You can report fraudulent e-mails to your e-mail provider.

#emtc2025 is officially accredited

Today we received confirmation of accreditation from the Hamburg Chamber of Psychotherapists, the body responsible for recognising scientific events as continuing education for psychotherapists. The complete attendance of the 13th EMTC will be credited with 20 continuing education points to your personal continuing education account. These points can also be used by certified music therapists as part of DMTG recertification. A confirmation of participation will be sent to everyone in the follow-up phase of the congress by our agency KUKM.

How does the scientific committee of an international conference work?

Bettina Eichmanns and the German Music Therapy Society’s blog editorial team interviewed the scientific committee, represented by Prof. Dr. Gitta Strehlow (University of Music and Drama Hamburg, HfMT) and Prof. Dr. Anne-Katrin Jordan (MSH Medical School Hamburg), to find out more about the scientific focus of the conference, and how the international committee proceeded to translate the initial thematic focus of the “Bridges” theme into a rich programme with speakers from so many different countries. #emtc2025 fully booked for on-site participation: The waiting list is now closed.

Based on the figures from previous EMTC conferences, we have generously rounded up our calculations and organized a total of 600 participants. Contrary to all our expectations, we are now fully booked by the end of the Early Bird deadline. We certainly didn't expect this, but this success has given us a boost. In the meantime, we have moderately increased the capacity and some interested parties on the waiting list could still be considered. This list is now closed. Despite the great interest, it is also important to us that the conference is held safely, which is why capacities cannot be increased at will.

Online participation is still possible for all interested parties! The social events also still have places available. We recommend that those attending in person book quickly

In contrast to all our expectations and the registration statistics for the last EMTC conferences, we are already fully booked for in-person participation in EMTC 2025 before the early bird registration period closes. We are currently examining the possibilities for a moderate increase in capacity. Therefore, please register and be placed on the waiting list. We will let you know in good time whether we can make further places available and will then release the places according to the order of registration/waiting list.

However, you can still register for online participation! The online platform will enable a sustainable congress experience with various participatory options. In streaming, you will be able to choose from up to three parallel events. You can also attend the opening ceremony online.

Participants who have already registered can of course still choose from the ‘Social Programme’.

In almost exactly seven months to the day, the time has come. The European Music Therapy Conference will start in Hamburg! Registration for the congress opens today, 20th November. You can book your ticket at the Early Bird rate until 31st March. Take a look at the social events programme, which you can book as part of your registration. The rich programme ranges from free and outdoor activities to exciting guided tours, and a special cruise & dinner event on the river Elbe. The events usually have limited capacity, so do not wait too long.

The names of the Keynote Speakers are now online!

With a total of ten keynote bridge lectures, a broad range of current music therapy topics will be covered, highlighting their relevance to health policy and society and initiating new research impulses in music therapy.

The keynote presentations are planned to build bridges between disciplines and perspectives. We start with an umbrella review, that builds a bridge to arts therapies and arts-based interventions. Following this overview presentation, there will be three keynote panels. Together with experts, the following three topics relevant to the music therapy community were identified:

(1) music therapy and psychotherapy research,
(2) music therapy in society and
(3) medicine and music psychology for music therapy.

We have come up with a special ‚Bridges’ format for these presentations. Each keynote panel will be introduced by a non-music therapist. Two music therapists will then form a bridge to the presentation.

Abstracts for the different presentation formats are invited in all areas relevant to music therapy practice and research embraced by the theme: Bridges. Submission opens on 15th of June 2024 and is only possible online via the abstract submission tool. Please take the chance and submit your proposal by the 15th of September 2024.

EMTC Conference 2025 Logo

The 13th European Music Therapy Conference has its own logo now. It offers plenty of scope for associations: be it the colour shades of Hamburg with its typical brick aesthetics and the omnipresent water, an iconographic implementation of audio signals or the idea of bridges, which symbolise the conference theme at the 13th edition of the conference.

Hamburg will host the next EMTC Conference in summer 2025!

At its meeting in Edinburgh, the General Assembly selected Hamburg as the next venue for the 13th European Music Therapy Conference and announced this at the closing ceremony on the 12th of 2022. We are grateful and enthusiastic to be hosting the EMTC 2025.

In November 2022, all associations for music therapy in Germany voted for Deutsche Musiktherapeutische Gesellschaft to be part of the organising team together with the two universities in Hamburg offering music therapy programmes.
