Abstract Submission

The submission must be done electronically where the first step is to create an account. Please read and follow the instructions below to submit your abstract(s) online.

Abstract submission for EMTC2025 (13th European Music Therapy Conference) is closed.

Abstracts for paper presentations, posters, workshops, roundtables, symposia and our special interdisciplinary “bridges”-format are invited in all areas relevant to music therapy practice and research embraced by the theme: Bridges.

All abstracts (max 250 words including references) will be subjected to blind peer-review by the Scientific Committee and coordinated and scheduled by the organising committee.

The review will assess the following criteria:

  • relevance in line with the topic,
  • practical and theoretical implications for music therapy,
  • quality of empirical work and theoretical foundation,
  • clarity of ideas and structure,
  • novelty and originality.

Please note

The conference offers professionals and researchers the opportunity to meet in person, present, engage, share and communicate. To encourage this, it will not be possible to present online.

To ensure that as many high quality diverse presentations as possible are accepted, the Scientific Committee will only consider one abstract for a paper presentation from each speaker and a maximum of two abstracts in the other categories. As a first author, abstracts can therefore be submitted in a maximum of three different categories; there is no limitation regarding co-authorship.

All selected speakers are required to attend the live conference in Hamburg. Speakers must register separately for the congress via the online registration and pay the participation fee (Early bird rate ends on 31st March 2025). All abstracts should be submitted and presented in English.

Acceptance and Notification

Abstract submission ends September 15th 2024 (11:59 pm CEST), after which all submitted abstracts will be subjected to blind peer-review by the Scientific Committee and coordinated and scheduled by the organising committee

Following the peer review process, the inclusion of papers in the conference programme will be decided, based on the above criteria for review by the Scientific Committee.

Submitters will be notified of the acceptance or rejection of their paper by email by 10th January 2025. Before submitting an abstract, it is not necessary to register for the conference itself. All presenters whose abstracts have been accepted must register for the entire conference before early bird registration closes on 31st March 2025.

In order to ensure a balanced programme, the conference organisers may suggest that a presentation be assigned to a different type of presentation than the one originally submitted. Presenters will be informed by e-mail if necessary.

Ethical guidelines for conference contributions

It is essential that the European Music Therapy Conference adhere to the standards of good ethical and scientific practice. Respect for person’s rights and human dignity must be present in all conference contributions in relation to material or individuals. This applies not least to the use of clinical audio or video material. We kindly ask all presenters to respect The Ethical Code of the European Music Therapy Confederation.
